Forbidden Items
The following items are banned completely on Omanbay:
- Adult items
- Alcohol
- Copied software, CDs, DVDs and Video tapes, copyrighted items and replicas
- E-books and downloadable software
- Endangered species
- Fireworks
- Frequent flyer points
- Human bodies and body parts
- Lottery and raffle tickets
- Prescription medications
- Offensive weapons, firearms and guns
- Recreational drugs
- Oman Armed Forces and Royal Oman Police uniforms
- Video CDs

Restricted Items
The following items can be sold but are subject to some restrictions:
- Books, newspapers and journals
- Businesses for sale
- Coins, banknotes and stamps
- Gas
- Made to order items
- Non-prescription medicines and supplements
- Original Equipment Manufacturer software
- Pets
- Protected Omani objects
- Radio transmitters and other communications devices
- Secondhand cars and car parts
- Services
- Veterinary Medicines
- Videos, CDs, DVDs, films, audio etc
Forbidden Items
Adult Items You may not sell any videos, magazines, books, DVDs, films etc of a sexually explicit nature or any adult novelties on Omanbay. Omanbay will remove any listings or photographs that it deems offensive.
Alcohol You may not sell alcohol of any nature on Omanbay.
Copied software, CDs, DVDs and Video tapes, Copyrighted Items and Replicas You must not sell any items that breach any copyright or other intellectual property rights.
E-books and downloadable software You may not sell any book, information, music or video files that have been downloaded from any website. You may not sell any software or computer programs, or URL or website address that gives the buyer access to download from a website.
Endangered species You may not sell any living creature that is on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources) red list.
Fireworks You may not sell any fireworks or other explosives on Omanbay.
Frequent flyer points Most frequent flyer reward schemes do not allow the transfer of points between members therefore they may not be sold on Omanbay.
Human bodies and body parts You may not list a human body or any body parts on Omanbay. This includes sperm and ovum.
Lottery and raffle tickets You may not sell any lottery or raffle tickets on Omanbay.
Offensive weapons, firearms and guns You may not sell any weapons, firearms, guns, or ammunition on Omanbay.
Oman Armed Forces and Royal Oman Police uniforms You may not sell uniforms or accessories of any of the Oman Armed Forces or Emergency Services.
Prescription Medication You may not sell any drugs that require a prescription from a doctor in order to obtain them.
Recreational drugs You may not sell any recreational drugs of any nature on Omanbay.
Video CDs Most video CDs are pirated and therefore they may not be sold on Omanbay.
Restricted Items
Books, newspapers and journals Individuals may sell their second hand books on Omanbay, but if you sell new books you may be deemed a book dealer. Book dealers must have permission from the Ministry of Information to sell books. Omanbay may request to see your registration documents.
Businesses for sale Businesses listed on Omanbay must be sold as a going concern. You may not sell business opportunities or franchises.
Coins, banknotes and stamps Old coins, banknotes and stamps that are no longer legal tender may be sold as collectible items on Omanbay. You may not sell coins, banknotes or stamps that are in current usage.
Gas Individuals may sell a single gas cylinder, but if you sell gas cylinders frequently we will deem you to be a gas dealer. Gas dealers must have permission from the Ministry of Commerce to sell gas. Omanbay may request to see your authorisation.
Made to order items You may list and sell items that are made to order for a customer only if you can guarantee that the item will be finished and ready to sell within one week of the auction close. The listing must be for a specific item. The buyer must not have to supply any additional information or a photograph in order for the item to be made.
Non-prescription Medicines and supplements Individuals may not sell non-prescription medications and supplements. Businesses registered as pharmacies with the Ministry of Health may sell non-prescription medications and supplements. Omanbay may request a copy of your registration documents.
Original equipment manufacturer software You may sell original equipment manufacturer software only if it is sold with a computer. You may not sell the software separately.
Pets Pets may be offered free or sold for a fixed price. You are responsible for ensuring that the buyer is a suitable person to care for your pet. Items sold by auction must be sold to the highest bidder. We cannot guarantee that the winning bidder will be a suitable person to care for your pet and therefore we advise that you do not auction your pet.
Protected Omani objects Certain Omani antiquities, including some khanjas and some Omani silver items may not be sold in Oman, or may not be exported. If you want to sell anything of this nature you are required to obtain permission from the Public Authority for Craft Industries. Omanbay may request to see your authorisation. Buyers are advised to check that the seller is authorised to sell his/her item. If you intend to export an item you should ensure that this is legal before you proceed with the purchase.
Radio transmitters and other communications devices Individuals may sell their second hand telephones on Omanbay, but businesses dealing in telephones, radios, and other communications devices must have permission from the Communications Institute of Oman. Omanbay may request to see your authorisation. Second hand cars, and car parts Individuals may sell their second hand cars on Omanbay, but if you sell more than 6 cars in a year, or if you import cars in order to sell them, we will deem you to be a car dealer. Car dealers must have permission from the Royal Oman Police. Omanbay may request to see your authorisation.
Services Services must be listed in the services section at a fixed price. Services are not suitable for sale by auction and therefore may not be listed in the general or cars, motorbikes and boats sections.
Veterinary medicines Individuals may not sell veterinary medicines. Businesses registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries may sell veterinary medicines. Omanbay may request to see your authorisation. . Videos, CD’s, DVD’s, films, audio etc Individuals may sell their second hand videos, CDs, DVDs, films and audio recordings on Omanbay, but if you sell new videos, CDs, DVDs, films and audio recordings you may be deemed a dealer. Dealers must have permission from the Ministry of Culture and Heritage. Omanbay may request to see your authorisation.
