About Prices
You will see 5 different prices on Omanbay:
The reserve price is the lowest price that the seller will accept for the item. If the bidding doesn’t reach this price the item will not be sold.
The starting price is the lowest price the first bidder can bid at the start of the auction. You should set this well below the reserve price to encourage people to bid for your item.
A buy now price may be posted by the seller if he/she is more interested in selling his/her item fast, than in getting the best possible price. If someone offers the buy now price he/she will be able to buy the item immediately and the auction will be cancelled. You should set the buy now price at or above the reserve price. You may add a buy now price at any time during your auction from My Omanbay, My Listings, Edit Pricing.
The selling price is the value of the top bid at the end of the auction, provided that it is above the reserve price. It is the price that the buyer will pay to the seller.
A fixed price means that the item is not being auctioned. It is the price the buyer should pay to the seller. Jobs, properties, and holiday accommodation are offered at a fixed price.
A fixed price offer may also be made if an auction closes below the reserve price. The seller can offer his/her item to the members who were bidding for it, to those who had asked questions about it, and to those who had added the listing to their shopping list, for a fixed price below the reserve price. The offer will be displayed in the My Shopping List of all the interested parties and may be accepted from there.
Fixed prices may be negotiable between the buyer and seller.
The selling price has already been negotiated during the auction and neither the seller nor the buyer should try to negotiate further after the auction. Sellers should ensure that the reserve price is the absolute lowest price that they will sell for, and buyers should not bid more than they are prepared to pay. Once the auction has closed the buyer and seller are considered to have shaken hands on the deal, and drunken coffee, and the price is no longer negotiable.
Auction Closing Times
Omanbay auctions last for 14 days from the time when the listing is posted, but for a small fee you may schedule a particular end time to suit you. Auctions that end in the evening may get more bidders towards the end than those closing during the night or during working hours.
