Bidding
Only members of Omanbay can bid. Ordinary members can bid up to RO 50 for an item, to bid more than RO 50 you must be a confirmed member.
The seller sets the starting price. Subsequent bids are subject to the minimum bid increment, which depends on the reserve price of the item. The reserve price is the lowest price that the seller will sell for.
To place your bid just login and open the listing. You can just click Bid and your bid of the next bid increment will be entered. You will be notified by email if someone else bids more than you. If you really want the item you should enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the item and then click Bid. See Auto-bidding.
If you are the highest bidder at the close of the auction, and the reserve price has been met, then you are the winning bidder. You will see a star on the listing, indicating that the reserve price has been met, and also a medal indicating that you are the winning bidder. You will receive an email from Omanbay containing the contact details of the seller, and the item will appear in My Omanbay/My Purchases. Click on the envelope to email the seller from there. If you are using an email address such as hotmail or yahoo, you may need to download Windows Live to make this work. It is free and takes about half an hour to download.
Auto-bidding
If you enter a price higher than the next minimum bid increment into the bid box, you will see that your bid is entered as the next bid increment, not the higher amount that you entered. In this case if someone bids more than you then we will enter another bid on your behalf, until your maximum bid is reached. If the reserve price is not met and no-one else bids, and your maximum is above the reserve price then the item will be sold to you for the reserve price.
Buy Now
A buy now price may be specified by the seller if he/she is more interested in selling fast than selling for the highest possible price. If someone offers the buy now price the item will be sold and the auction cancelled. To place a bid of the buy now price, just login, open the listing and click Buy Now. You will automatically be the winning bidder. The item will show in your My Purchases and you will receive an email from Omanbay with the contact details of the seller.
Minimum Bid Increments
A minimum bid increment is the next smallest bid amount allowed. The minimum bid increments depend on the price of the item and are:

E-mail Alerts
We send an email alert if someone bids more than you but you are advised to watch the bidding closely in the last hour of the auction for an item that you want to buy. Your e-mail alert may not reach you in time for you to place a bid before the close of the auction.
Removing Bids
Confirmed members can request to have their last bid removed by Omanbay. Frequent requests for removal of bids may result in suspension of your membership. Please do not bid unless you are sure you have sufficient funds to complete the transaction.
